3.3 A cover page and table of contents

In most cases, you will probably add a cover page only if the nature of the agreement is confidential, if several small contracts are part of a larger transaction or when the contract has more than eight pages or so. If a contract is more than about 20 pages long, insert a table of contents that lists page numbers for articles immediately following the cover page. In a separate overview the annexes, schedules and exhibits can be included (the list of annexes could be put underneath the table of contents, on a subsequent page or immediately underneath the signature block.

Typically, the cover page contains the information necessary to identify the agreement (see best practice principle 22 related to drafting the text of a definition in section 7.1(c)).
