Getting started with Weagree’s AI contract review playbooks add-in for Word will only take a few minutes.

AINSTALLATION (get your Add-in in MS Word)
The add-in is available for Microsoft Word, both desktop and online (web browser) versions, from the Microsoft Store. Installation is easy:

1. Open Microsoft Word.

2. Click Add-ins on the Home tab of the Word Ribbon. If you are using the desktop version of Word and do not see this button:

a. Right-click on an empty space on the Ribbon and select Customise the Ribbon from the context menu.
b. Select All tabs from the top-left dropdown menu.
c. Under Main tabs > Home, select Add-ins.
d. Click Add.
e. Click OK.

3. Search for “Weagree”.

4. When you have found the add-in, click Add.

BINITIAL SETUP (connect your AI model (with your API key))
Following installation, go through the initial setup to start using the add-in.

1. Start Weagree’s AI contract review playbooks add-in by clicking the new magenta Weagree-icon (with pen) on your Word Ribbon. Watch the GIF below.

  • Note 1: the Add-in panel will not automatically open when you next open Word. Click the Weagree-icon (magenta icon with pen) to start the add-in again.
  • Note 2: you can change the width of the add-in panel by clicking and dragging the left edge.

2. To use this add-in, you need an ‘API key’ from one of these AI-model providers:

From either of these AI model providers, you will likely need a paid subscription (their ‘Pro‘ versions or higher provide this). Their subscriptions fees range between 15 and 20 euro (18-20 USD) per month (status March 2026). In the GIF-recording below, we demonstrate how, taking Anthropic’s Claude as the example:

3. Enter the API key (of the account) your organisation has designated for this purpose. Your IT department should be able to provide you with this; or if you have direct access to the account, you should be able to find it through its web or app interface.

4. Select the AI model you want to use.

5. It is strongly recommended that before proceeding, you click Test connection to confirm that these settings work. If you cannot establish a connection to the AI provider (an error will appear), contact your IT department.

6. Click Save and continue if you have established a connection to the AI provider. If you have not yet (successfully) tested the connection, but want to proceed anyway, you may also click Skip for now instead. Be aware that a working connection is required for proper use of the add-in!

Note: a pop-up may appear to ask if you want to save your password – in this case, the API key. For security reasons, we recommend you do not. The key is encrypted and saved, so that you will not need to enter it again the next time you start the add-in. Saving it in a password manager is therefore redundant.

7. Should you need to change any API settings:

a. Open the add-in’s settings.
b. Open the AI provider menu.
c. Adjust the settings and click Save.
d. Click the home button in the top-right corner to return to the initial screen.

The add-in is now ready for use. If you are happy with the default playbooks provided by Weagree, you can begin reviewing contracts. Click here for instructions on running a playbook. If you want to customise your selection of playbooks first, click here instead.
