Why the add-in helps you – and why it is freemium

First of all, in March, Weagree exists 20 year – reason to celebrate with something truly valuable. Secondly, in February, our LinkedIn group Drafting contracts welcomed its 150,000th member – another good reason to celebrate! The freemium add-in stands in a long tradition of sharing our model contracts and know-how.

The Weagree AI playbooks add-in runs as a panel directly alongside any document open in MS Word. It brings the full power of AI contract review – the kind used by legal teams at multinationals – to any lawyer, anywhere in the world.

Playbook-driven clause review
AI contract review playbook

Every clause reviewed against your negotiation playbook with fallback positions, sample clauses, and user-instructions and guidance notes for negotiation.

Multi-lingual the add-in determines the contract language that you can override, and playbooks support every review language.

Each clause is risk-rated – 🔴, 🟠, 🟡 or 🟢 – with fallback clause wording and pre-drafted Word ‘comments’ ready to apply. If the does not find a required clause, it is flagged red.

When marking up the other party’s clause, surgical redlining is applied:

  1. Based on the selected fallback clause from your negotiation playbook.
  2. Surgical redlining means that the proposed (reviewed) clause is changed as little as possible.
  3. Minimal track changes (precision redlining) means smooth reaction by your counterparty on your proposed text adjustments.

Surgical redlining, thanks to Weagree’s AI-contract review add-in.

Seven standard AI-prompts to do your most-frequent actions:

  • Summarise a clause
  • Red-flag review
  • Translate
  • Check definitions
  • Check cross-references
  • Write a deal memo, draft an e-mail to your counterparty
  • Translate selected text

– the most common review tasks, ready to run in one click.

AI playbook risk assessment

Upload a model contract and use the built-in prompt to generate a full playbook – clause by clause, with fallback positions and explanatory notes – in minutes.

The add-in supports multi-lingual playbooks. Upon configuring the contract review context (negotiation strength, contract value, risk appetite), the AI automatically determines the contract review language (that you can override).

No limit on the number of contracts you review. No limit on the number of playbooks. No time restriction. No subscription. Not limited to contracts (any document works). Also useful (to AI-chat) with documents (other than contracts). Only your own AI provider’s cost.

Super-easy to set up

Download the add-in free from Microsoft AppSource (in MS Word, go to: Home > Add-ins, search “Weagree“).

Weagree’s freemium AI-contract review playbooks add-in for Word installs in seconds inside your existing MS Word – no separate application, no IT involvement required.

Check our Getting-started manual, if needed.

The freemium AI-contract review playbooks add-in works with your own API key from OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google AI Gemini or other supported LLM providers. When you start the AI-contract review playbooks add-in for the first time, it will ask you to paste your AI provider’s API key (the add-in will store it encrypted on your laptop). Weagree’s add-in supports the following AI-model providers: From either of these AI model providers, you need a paid subscription (their ‘Pro‘ versions or higher provide API-access). Subscription fees range between 15 and 20 euro (18-22 US dollar) per month. For API-usage an additional fee may apply, which would typically be 1.20 to 4 euro per contract reviewed (status March 2026). Apart from your AI subscription fee, that is your only cost. Check our Getting-started manual, for more details and guidance.

Open any contract in Word. Click the add-in icon. The AI-contract review playbooks add-in panel appears alongside it.

Load a playbook, run a review, or start with one of the seven built-in prompts. The AI reviews the document; you stay in control of every edit. The AI-contract review playbooks add-in also works for any other type of document (we are also not restricting you on contracts-only).

Weagree’s free playbooks – yours to keep

To get you started immediately, Weagree is releasing ten professional playbooks for the most common commercial contract types. Each is built on Weagree’s deep expertise in international contract drafting – the same knowledge behind the Drafting Contracts book and 20 years of client work.

New AI-playbooks will be released here on the Weagree website (you need to register and accept a disclaimer and terms of use). We plan to release the following AI-playbooks:

  • General purchasing agreement
  • Services agreement
  • Sales agreement (one-off transactions)
  • Long-term supply agreement
  • SaaS agreement
  • Distribution agreement
  • Agency agreement
  • Loan or credit agreement
  • Share purchase agreement (SPA)
  • NDA
  • Data processing agreement

Your ROI – in numbers

At between 2 and 4 euro per contract, the business case is straightforward:

  • NDA review: 25 minutes → 5 minutes
  • Large agreements: up to 5-7 hours saved per contract
  • Negotiation cycle: 50-70% shorter

Legal teams using AI contract review report going from 90-minute average review times to 2-5 minutes per contract. Fewer delays, faster negotiations, more capacity from the same headcount.

For independent lawyers and small firms

If you work independently or in a small team, Weagree’s freemium AI-contract review playbooks add-in gives you enterprise-grade AI contract review without the enterprise budget. Load a playbook for the contract type you are reviewing, connect your own AI model, and the add-in does the first pass. You focus on what matters: the judgement calls.

You might want to embrace Weagree CLM, however, for its powerful contract automation, transactions management, Kanban tasks management, DMS, coordinating e-signing (integrated with DocuSign, etc.) and post-signing management of signed contracts.

For corporates and law firms

The freemium version of Weagree’s AI-contract review playbooks add-in is a standalone solution – powerful and unrestricted, and without integration into your broader legal infrastructure. Once you fall in love with our freemium add-in, you will want to connect it with our Weagree Wizard.

If you are a GC, Head of Legal or head of Legal Ops responsible for a legal function, you may want to see how AI contract review integrates with contract creation, CLM, contract task management, e-signing, and the end-to-end contracting solution inside the Weagree Wizard.

Three reasons why enterprise-grade Word add-ins add even more:

  1. Agentic AI requires close alignment of data and processes (inescapably flowing through your CLM platform). No Word add-in will be capable of aligning processes or streaming data. An AI-playbook add-in does tremendous contract review work but more complex agreements require a questionnaire to tailor your playbook to the transaction context: that is what Weagree will do.
  2. Data management. You want to have contract-creation and contract-review one-on-one linked to each other. The add-in for Word will continuously synchronise with your CLM: stopping halfway a review enables you or your colleagues to finish it later. Moreover, managing large transactions (with multiple documents, many stakeholders, a DMS and integrated e-signing) is not something for a Word add-in: our customers enjoy Weagree’s platform for that.
  3. Know-how management. The connection enables you to create, manage and distribute playbooks across the legal team or your organisation. Integrated playbooks link up with your CLM metadata and with your contract creation-questionnaire (your playbooks reflect your contract know-how as much as your automated model contracts). Your clause library will flow seamless from the Weagree Wizard to Word add-in, and back.

Frequently asked questions

Is the AI-contract review add-in truly free?

Yes. There is no subscription, no time limit, and no volume cap. Your only cost is the API usage fee charged directly by your AI provider – typically between 2 and 4 euro per reviewed contract.

You are bound by a few terms: you may not (re)sell our AI-contract review playbooks add-in, you accept a disclaimer (‘as is’) and a limitation of liability. The same applies to our free playbooks.

You do not need to register to use the freemium AI-contract review playbooks add-in for Word. If you want to download our forthcoming (free) playbooks, you must register (and accept our disclaimer, exclusion of liability with prohibition to commercialise playbooks).

The AI-contract review playbooks add-in supports any LLM with a compatible API, including OpenAI (GPT-4 or later), Anthropic Claude and Google AI’s Gemini. You need to copy-paste their API key.

A playbook is a structured set of clause-level instructions: which clauses to review, what risk level to assign, what fallback wording to propose, and what Word comments to insert. The add-in applies the playbook fallback clause to your contract, clause by clause, and presents the results in the add-in panel alongside your document.

The AI-contract review playbooks add-in is self-service solution. Comprehensive guides covering all core use cases are available at [link]. For the full Weagree platform with dedicated support, please contact us.

Weagree’s freemium AI-contract review playbooks add-in is standalone and does not integrate with the Weagree Wizard, CLM, or other systems. Integration with the full Weagree platform is available as part of a Weagree Wizard subscription.

Yes. The AI-contract review playbooks add-in includes a built-in prompt for generating your own playbooks from a model contract you upload. Basic (AI-driven) playbook creation is available in the freemium version.

Advanced management of playbooks, syncing data with CLM, collaborative contracting with your colleagues (resuming their reviews or sharing playbooks automatically), syncing your clause library, and other fine-tuning tools will be part of the full Weagree Wizard.
