Instead of manually copying every paragraph from your model contract into the Template Creation Tool, you can use the Weagree Wizard’s automated import tooling to quickly set up your template. It will upload the entire Word document, ‘flatten’ the text (so automated clause numbering and cross-references for example will be removed) and preconfigure the outline (structure) of your template.
Prior to initiating an automated import, you should prepare your Word document in accordance with these instructions. Keep in mind that the automated import functionality is only available during initial template creation.
Note: it is strongly recommended that you familiarise yourself with building blocks and contract clauses, their contents and styling, definitions and schedules and annexes first. Ideally, you will have manually inserted a complete template before you first try the automated import.

A. STARTING THE AUTOMATED IMPORT
1. While creating a new template, enable Automated import. For more information on initial template creation, click here.
2. Click Save when you are ready to proceed. The Template Creation Tool will load and a pop-up will appear.

3. Use the Word file drag-and-drop field (you can also click on it to open an explorer window) to upload the prepared Word document to the Weagree Wizard.

B. TEMPLATE OUTLINE AND STYLING
After uploading your Word document, the automated import will extract all its paragraphs and list them below the drag-and-drop field. Each will be presented in a table, with various buttons and fields in the first row and the actual text of the paragraph in the second row.
The buttons and fields can be used to define the outline of your template and the styling of each resultant building block and contract clause. If you have prepared your Word document in accordance with the instructions referred to above, the automated import will preconfigure the outline and styling based on the styles in the document.
1. To prevent a paragraph from being imported, click the minus button.
2. To determine a paragraph’s hierarchical position within the template outline, click the building block or one of the contract clause buttons. There are a few things to keep in mind (compare he screenshot below):
a. The first paragraph must always be a building block (the first button after the minus button).
b. The numbers on the contract clause buttons indicate their indentation. A number 2 contract clause is therefore indented once relative to a building block, a number 3 contract clause is indented twice, etc.
c. Indentation progression must always be linear and complete. For example, there cannot be a ‘gap’ by having a number 2 contract clause be followed by a number 4 contract clause: they must be separated by a number 3 contract clause.
d. Just as when you manually structure a template, multiple contract clauses of the same indentation can exist ‘next’ to each other as ‘siblings’. For example, a number 2 contract clause might be followed by three number 3 contract clause paragraphs.
3. Optionally, adjust each paragraph’s styling. By default, a numbered style corresponding to the indentation level is applied.
4. If necessary, enter or adjust each paragraph’s unique name. This will be the name given to its building block or contract clause.
Note: building blocks or ‘sibling’ contract clauses cannot be share the same name. Contract clauses that have the same indentation, but are not direct siblings (e.g. two contract clauses with the number 2 that are placed underneath two different building blocks) can have the same name, however.

C. DEFINITIONS
Paragraphs can be directly converted into definitions for the Weagree Wizard’s library.
1. Click the funnel button to designate a paragraph as a definition. The style Definition will be selected automatically.
2. For subparagraphs of a definition, click the number 2 funnel button. This creates an indented contract clause within a definition. The style Definition subitem will be selected automatically. You can change this to Definition sub-subitem, or any other style if desired.
3. Optionally, adjust the defined term. This is the text that will appear wherever the applicable definition tag is used.
4. Optionally, adjust the unique name (for example by adding a prefix). This is the name used to identify the definition in the library and tags.

D. SCHEDULES AND ANNEXES
Paragraphs can be directly converted into schedules or annexes for the Weagree Wizard’s library.
1. Click the paperclip button to designate a paragraph as the title (top contract clause) of a schedule or annex.
Note: all paragraphs below it that are set to a contract clause indentation will become part of the same schedule or annex. If you click the paperclip button on a subsequent paragraph, it will become the title of a new schedule or annex.
2. Optionally, change the style to Schedule heading instead of Annex heading.
3. Optionally, adjust the unique name (for example by adding a prefix). This is the name used to identify the schedule or annex in the library and tags.

E. PAUSING OR COMPLETING THE IMPORT
The automated import can be paused at any time or completed whenever you are ready.
1. To pause import configuration, click Save & close. This will store all the current settings. You can resume the configuration by reopening the template (or reloading the page, if it is still open).
2. To complete the import, click Import.
Note: if any unique name fields are empty, or the same name is used for sibling paragraphs, a browser alert will appear and you will have to correct this before you can complete the import.
