There are several possible explanations and solutions for wrong styling in the WYSIWYG view (underwater screen). Depending on the exact nature of the problem, you can resolve it either through the Template Creation Tool or the Dotx-files and WYSIWYG view section of the Administrator page.
1. Template Creation Tool
If only certain parts of a text appear to be incorrectly formatted in some way, this will likely be caused by certain settings in the template. You can verify this by generating a document and comparing it to the styling in the WYSIWYG view. If the styling errors are mirrored in the generated document, this suggests that the WYSIWYG view itself is configured correctly, but the template is not. Open it in the Template Creation Tool and check whether:
- the correct dotx-file (Word template) is selected in the template settings; this will first and foremost affect the look of a generated document, but may also result in a different appearance of the WYSIWYG view
- the correct styling (e.g. Level 1, Level 2 – no numbering, Bullet 3) is selected for the building block or clause where the text has the wrong appearance in the WYSIWYG view
- the building block or clause formatting settings (i.e. text colour, size and alignment) are correct (for instructions, click here)
- the building block or clause does not contain unwanted HTML code (for instructions, click here)
Note: it is assumed that the styling settings in the dotx-file itself are in order. However, if the above does not help to solve the issue, then most likely it is the dotx-file that needs adjusting (as well as the WYSIWYG view’s settings). For instructions, click here.
2. Dotx-files and WYSIWYG view settings
In the style mappings settings (click here for more information), try checking whether:
- each style name (e.g. Level 1, Level 2 – no numbering, Bullet 3) is linked to the correct style in the dotx-file
- each mapped style has the correct individual settings; be particularly mindful of the Formatting for number, Aligned at (in cm) and Text indent at (in cm) fields
